Most of the accommodation providers charge a fee for cancellations or changes to reservations. Also some providers may not issue any refunds for cancelled or altered arrangements. Budgetscot.com has no control over such matters. In the event that you should find our offered accommodation cheaper through any alternative source and you can provide confirmation before booking - we will match that price. This does not apply to direct bookings with the accommodation Provider (if and when available),

TRAVEL WITHIN SCOTLAND
We recommend \\\"The Train Line\\\" ( online via BOOK UK TRAINS ONLINE ) as fares can be as much as 60% cheaper if booked in advance, and during the peak season (May-September and Bank Holidays) finding cheap tickets is often impossible due to excessive demand, so even turning up at the Railway Station you may still find tickets for a particular service heavily restricted (or impossible) to secure at a reasonable price. Trains serve most of Scotland.
Flying within the UK and Europe can be excellent value, in particular, RyanAir and EasyJet offer services to Scottish Airports. Prices rise dramatically during peak seasons and Bank Holidays as well as during certain (popular) times of the day. Late flights or very early morning tend to be up to 30-50% cheaper.
However, when factoring in Taxi or Coach/Bus costs to the Centre from the Airport prices can rise. All Bus Stations and Railway Stations are centrally located, usually in the heart of the city/Town Centre.
The most well connected City in Scotland, and outside of London and Manchester probably the UK.
Edinburgh International Airport is located at Turnhouse approximately 9 kilometres west of the city centre. A direct and frequent Shuttle bus (Number #100 every 30 minutes, journey time 30 minutes) leaves the airport for the centre between the hours of 5.00am and Midnight at a cost of UK 3 pounds single and 5 pounds for a return ticket. A taxi to the City Centre will cost you approximately UK 15-20 pounds and take approximately the same time.
Trains into Edinburgh arrive at the Cities main Station known as Waverley Station which is situated at the eastern end of Princes street (Edinburgh\\\'s main street). This is right in the city centre.
Bus and Coach
The Bus and Coach terminus, located at St Andrews Square (5 minutes walk to Princes street) serves all local and intercity destinations
The best way to explore Edinburgh is most definitely through the use of the excellent public transport system. A daily Ticket costs just UK 2.50 pounds and allows unlimited use of the “White and Maroon” Bus network. The network itself is extensive and covers not only the centre but almost certainly even the most out of the way places.
Taxis are not cheap and you will be paying a minimum of UK 5 pounds for a short journey. However they are plenteous and easily available.
Most visitors will arrive at Glasgow International Airport, located ten kilometres southwest of the city at Abbotsinch. The Glasgow Airport Link bus takes you directly into the city centre (Buchanan Street) appriximately every 12 minutes, and taking less than half an hour. A Taxi will cost around UK 17 pounds.
Glasgow also another airport, Prestwick, located near Ayr 40 kilometres south of Glasgow, this also has a connecting bus service.
Glasgow\\\'s Central Station. near Argylle street is the arrival point for all trains into the city. Trains to Edinburgh are fast and frequent, taking approximately 60 minutes.
Bus and Coach
Buchanan Street bus station servers all regional and intercity areas.
The Underground or Subway is often called the “Clockwork Orange” and is open 6.30am-11pm Mon-Sat and 11am-5.30pm Sunday with a day ticket costing UKP 1.90 pounds.
Glasgow has a wide variety of Bus companies, with disparate destinations. It is best once arriving to pick up the various local timetables as the multitude of companies and routes even confuses the local population.
Taxis\\\'s are of course plentiful but not cheap. Expect to pay UKP 4-5 pounds for a short journey, and around UKP 9-10 for a three mile journey.
